Hello friends,

I just finished up a three week shoot on the feature film, America, working as 1st AC for DP Ben Huddleston. The rest of the camera team was filled out with 2nd AC James Wray, B Camera Operator Andrew Smith, and B Camera 1st AC Adam Smith. It was a fantastic experience and my first opportunity to get my hands on the Movi stabilizer, which could be a pain to maintain sometimes, but it produced some beautiful images!

Pulling focus remotely

Rigging the Movi to a wheelchair

Practicing with the Movi in between takes

Preparing the camera for flight

Red Epic ready for action on the Movi

One of our gorgeous sets

A lot of talent crammed into one photo

Now that America is wrapped, we’ll have some exciting news posted here in the next few days!

Hello Friends,

Exciting news will be announced within the next few weeks! SO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THAT.

Recently had the privilege to work with Forza Productions on their latest Grand Casino commercial:

And speaking of Grand Casino commercials, be sure to keep an eye out for the commercial titled “Welcome to the Grand Life” featuring cinematography by yours truly, now airing!. It was a lot of fun to work on, and I think it turned out pretty darn well!

Also, had the chance to test out the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera with Indian Head Productions on a spec commercial, directed by Patrick Kirk. Small camera but it makes some pretty images. Will post video whenever it’s ready!

It’s been awhile so how about a brand new Four Eyed Wisdom!

Hello friends,

Spent the last week of October in beautiful Austin, Tx to screen the world premiere of the film The Fable of Shannon Cable as part of the Austin Film Festival! Worked many months on this fantastic film as cinematographer with the ridiculously talented director, Vinnie Hogan. I’m very proud of the film and grateful to Vinnie for allowing me to be a part of it. It was a dream come true to see the film premiere at such a prestigious event!

Here are some photos of the fun:

Want to see the film? YOU CAN.

The film will have its OKLAHOMA PREMIERE at the Paramount OKC on Nov 16th at 7PM! Writer/Director Vinnie Hogan and much of the cast will be in attendance! And it’s FREE!

And there will be an additional screening at Oklahoma City University in the Walker Center (Room 151) on Nov 21st at 8PM!

Hope to see you there!

Hello friends,

First, some more news on The Fable of Shannon Cable front! Check out the Oklahoma Film and Music Office’s press release giving a shout out to our little film that could!

And then, check out the Slackerwood blog article that features our trailer!

The hype is starting to build for our film, and WE CAN’T WAIT FOR PEOPLE TO SEE IT. Can’t make it to Austin for the screening? Have no fear, we plan/hope to get some screenings set up in Oklahoma in the coming months, so stay tuned for that!

In other news, I’ve been busy busy on quite a few projects. Did some shooter work for my friends at Indian Head Pictures. We travelled to the distant land of Stillwater, OK, and found ourselves on a farm filled with Red Dirt musicians at the Gypsy Cafe event presented by the Red Dirt Relief Fund. If you don’t know what that is, check it out.

Here is a photo of some of the musicians just chilling out and jamming together, it was a pretty great experience all around. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

And here’s Brian Gililland interviewing one of the musicians.

Also had the opportunity to work with the lovely ladies of WeerNProduction on a short film called B&E. I worked as the 1st AC/B Camera Operator. Worked under the guidance of Yosuke Shingu, who’s a talented up and comer you need to keep an eye on.

And lastly, I had the pleasure of working with Forza Productions as cinematographer for a commercial for Grand Casino in Shawnee. Had a fantastic time working with them and I think we did a damn fine job with the ad. Can’t wait to see it start airing!

Stay tuned for more cool stuff!

Hello friends,

As of this week, I’ve officially existed for 28 years, and I plan to exist for quite a few more. And in that time, I plan to create some cool things. Thank you all who’ve contributed to making the first 28 years so neat!

To start my upcoming lifetime, I’ll be working with some incredibly talented people on various projects in the coming weeks and I am quite looking forward to it all. Got a shoot with the very cool, very funny Skit Guys, this week. I’ll be working as a Grip/Electrician under the directorial guidance of Adam Carter. This is my second adventure with the Skit Guys, the first occurring last week on a neat little music video, directed by the talented Mr. Brian Cates and cinematography by all around cool guy, Sam Calvin. If/when these projects are made available, I will be posting them here, so watch out for that!

Next week, I’ll be venturing to exotic Stillwater, Ok! There I’ll be working as a shooter with my buddies at Indian Head Pictures, on a project for the Red Dirt Relief Fund. Once again, I’ll post video once it’s made available!

That’s enough of that for now, it’s time for some wisdom.

Hello Friends,

Man, do I have some fantastic news. But I’ll let this video from some friends of mine explain. Through song:

A Special Announcement from the Funky Soul Retrievers from Jacob Leighton Burns on Vimeo.

That’s right, friends, The Fable of Shannon Cable (feature film for which I was cinematographer and producer), was accepted in the the prestigious AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL which runs Oct 24-31st in beautiful Austin, TX!!!

The film was written and directed by the ridiculously talented Vinnie Hogan (who’s coattails I plan to ride to fame and fortune), and stars the lovely Kristin Phillips (who can sing too!) We filmed it with a teeny tiny budget over a long period of time, and it turned out to be pretty darn good. After the film’s world premiere, we hope to host a few more screenings so that all of our friends, family, and fans have an opportunity to see it. Premiering at a festival as great as the Austin Film Festival seemed like a impossible dream as we were shooting, and now here we are. I AM STOKED.

Here is the first trailer:

The Fable of Shannon Cable - Trailer 1 from Vinnie Hogan on Vimeo.

On top of all that, we’ve got some other great projects coming up, but I’ll save those details for later.

How about some words of wisdom:
